Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and ensuring comfort throughout their visit
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical procedures such as injections, phlebotomy, EKGs.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient information, diagnoses (ICD coding), and treatment plans
- Support patient intake processes by verifying insurance details, updating medical histories, and coordinating appointment schedules
- Conduct basic laboratory tasks including specimen collection and processing for diagnostic testing
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control protocols
- Collaborate with the medical team to facilitate efficient patient flow in outpatient clinics, hospital units, or specialty departments such as geriatrics or PICU
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in settings such as hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately across diverse populations
- Ability to perform clinical duties such as vital signs measurement, specimen collection (phlebotomy), medication administration, and emergency response procedures
