The Credentialed Medical Assistant is responsible for providing age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, collecting information, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology to provide patients with quality medical care and stellar customer service.
Performs patient care tasks and selected therapies as delegated by a licensed professional including patient advocacy, teaching and performance improvement.
Functions in the ambulatory settings in the clinical area.
Assists with daily clinical operations and routine administrative and clinical protocols applicable to a physician’s office setting.
Triages and prepares patients for examination and/or specialty procedures.
Responsible for processing of patients’ referrals (urgent and non urgent), tests and surgery expeditiously. Pre-authorization is managed in a timely manner to ensure reimbursement is returned.
Maintains accurate tracking log and record electronically all referrals received with their dispositions for Quality Assurance purposes.
Knowledge of exam room and patient preparation procedures.
Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:
1-2 years of related clinical experience .
EDUCATION:
High school diploma required.
A current valid certification as a Medical Assistant is also required (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA).
Knowledge of aseptic/sterile techniques and wound care.
Skilled in administering medications.
Skilled in triaging patient records and maintaining inventories.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
2 years of college education or Associates Degree preferred.

Employment in this role may be contingent upon extramural funding and successful performance and may be terminated or reduced in percentage of appointment if such funding is not secured or ceases to be available.
