About the Role
Fleurish Chicago is a floral studio and retail flower shop in the heart of Bronzeville. We make elevated, editorial floral design feel like an everyday part of life, and our storefront is where that comes to life.
We are looking for an Assistant Store Manager to lead the shop. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can design at a high level, hold the standard on every arrangement that leaves our door, and run the day-to-day so the business moves smoothly. You will co-lead a small team, own our fresh inventory, shape our seasonal menus, and help tell our story online. If you want real ownership and take pride in both beautiful design and a well-run operation, this is for you.
What You'll Own
Shop operations and leadership
- Lead daily operations, including opening and closing procedures and policy compliance
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and aligned with the Fleurish brand at all times
Team leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and train team members in design technique, service, and workflow
- Oversee delivery logistics, including routing, driver dispatch, and quality control
- Support the team on POS transactions and ensure accurate daily sales reconciliation
Floral design and quality
- Design premium floral arrangements for daily orders, corporate clients, and events
- Plan and shape our seasonal menus, from everyday bouquets to holiday collections
- Conduct quality checks on all outgoing designs to ensure they meet shop standards and client expectations
Purchasing and inventory
- Order fresh flowers and greenery each week from wholesalers, forecasting for seasons and holidays
- Receive and inspect deliveries, then process and condition every stem
- Manage the cooler: temperature, rotation, and keeping waste low on perishable product
- Maintain hard goods and supplies (vases, tools, packaging) and reorder as needed
Client and sales
- Serve walk-in customers and handle custom floral requests with warmth and care
- Maintain client profiles, noting preferences, special dates, and past orders
- Track sales and product trends to inform purchasing, staffing, and promotions
Digital and social
- Keep our online menu accurate, current, and beautifully presented
- Take great product photos of arrangements and shop moments
- Help create and post content for our social media
The physical work
- Handle the physical demands of a flower shop, including lifting up to 40 to 50 pounds and standing for long stretches
What You Bring
- A strong floral design background with a portfolio of event or retail floral work. This is a must
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Proficiency in retail sales, cash handling, and POS systems
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage inventory effectively
- Tech savvy. You are at ease with POS systems, online menu tools, phone photography, and social media, and you pick up new tools quickly
- Weekend and holiday availability, especially around Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, our busiest weeks of the year
