Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Aide/Cook to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation and service within nursing home, or hospital environments. This role involves preparing nutritious meals, maintaining high standards of sanitation, and providing excellent customer service to our residents and patients. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent time management skills, adhere to safety protocols, and work collaboratively to support the dietary needs of our geriatric population.
Duties
- Prepare and serve balanced, nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and individual resident or patient needs.
- Assist with food production, ensuring proper portioning, presentation, and adherence to food safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas, following strict hygiene protocols..
- Handle food safely by practicing proper food handling, sanitation, and storage techniques to prevent contamination.
- Support dietary department operations through bussing tables, cleaning kitchen equipment, and assisting with meal setup and cleanup.
- Follow safe lifting practices when handling heavy items or supplies to prevent injury.
- Work efficiently within a team environment, demonstrating excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Comply with workplace safety regulations and use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately at all times.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages or issues promptly.
- Engage with residents or patients respectfully, providing friendly customer service that enhances their dining experience.
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living nursing homes, hospitals, or similar healthcare settings preferred, but not required.
- Strong culinary skills with experience in food production and meal preparation tailored to geriatric dietary needs.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, and safe lifting techniques.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with dietary department operations including menu planning and nutrition considerations.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams while maintaining a respectful and inclusive attitude.
- Experience with food handling procedures, CPR certification is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated understanding of workplace safety protocols including PPE use and manual handling procedures.
- Basic knowledge of dietetics principles related to nutrition for elderly populations.
- Strong commitment to cleanliness, sanitation, and maintaining high standards of hygiene throughout all duties.
