EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Student worker position available to carry out interdisciplinary project to study the effect of alternative splicing and changes in the sub-endothelial matrix on immune cell interactions with the endothelium in vitro and in vivo. A major focus of the project will be on in vitro screening approaches to identify novel endothelial cell regulators of immune cell function, analysis of murine central nervous system tissues, and behavioral assays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
Must be 18 years of age, have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and be enrolled in one of the following degree programs - Master's or higher.
Molecular biology experience, including PCR, SDS-PAGE with Coomassie staining and Western Blotting. Experience with dissections, including dissection of CNS tissues, fixation, and imbedding.
Behavioral analysis, including open field, Y-maze, and rotarod.
Maintenance of digital notebooks, familiarity with data management programs and statistical analysis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to verify current student status in formal accredited program upon hire. Acceptable documentation to include either a letter from academic advisor on letterhead; or a course schedule listing current term of enrollment, name of educational institute and student's name.
SCHEDULE:
Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with a 30-minute unpaid meal break.
Anticipated start date is September 1, 2026. The duration of this appointment will be until January 31, 2027, and may be less or continued based on need. Due to the special nature of this position, continuous employment cannot be guaranteed.
The hourly rate for this position is $18.80. This position is not eligible for benefits.
