The Food Program Manager at One Bright Ray Community High School serves as an integral member of each campus' team, actively traveling and communicating with administration and food staff. The Food Program Manager has an array of tasks, including but not limited to the following areas/departments: Food Program, Wellness Plan and Committee, School Administration, and Business Office.
The Food Program is vital, as the manager is responsible for maintaining a healthy, safe, and positive environment that complies with standards, reporting requirements, training requirements, and certificate requirements.
The Food Program Manager is a member of the Business Department and works collaboratively with the entire school community. As Food Program Manager, effective communication and efficient time management are essential. As a leader of the School Community, the Food Program Manager should always demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
Qualifications: Preferably an Associate's Degree, must maintain a current certification in ServSafe
Years of Experience: Minimum 1-4 years of experience in the food industry

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily operations of the Food Program
- Interview potential new hires for the Food Program
- Ensure all documentation is organized (in the kitchen and in the filing cabinet)
- Ensure & reinforce all Food Program policies and procedures
- Process Food Program Application and upload data
- Send letters to student homes informing them of the Food Program
- Review and ensure information regarding the Food Program on the school website is up to date
- Serve as a substitute in the absence of food staff
- Monitor daily order counts against serving totals
- Inform the Business Office of any changes regarding meal counts
- Submit orders for supplies and equipment
- Purchasing of all Food program supplies
- Comply and enforce all health & safety regulations in the Food Safety Plan
- Review and revise the Food Safety and Wellness Plan as necessary
- Discuss Meal options for the students with the team
- Prepare, Plan, and perform monthly/quarterly trainings for food staff
- Communicate training dates/information with food staff and Principals
- Ensure the mandatory amount of training hours is met by the Food Program team
- Communicate any discrepancies, questions, changes, etc. to the food vendor.
- Schedule Food Safety & Safe Serve Certification training and test for staff
- Manually enter meal count data as necessary
- Ensure rosters are up to date
- Ensure all logs are completed and submitted by food staff
- File all Food Program documentation
- Communicate with Food Staff job duties and expectations
- Review serving and cleaning schedule with food staff
- Check Kitchens daily/weekly for cleanliness
- Manage Wellness Plan and Committee
- Maintain all data reporting requirements on the Pears System
PEARS System:
- Complete the Food Program annual application
- Complete the Annual Food Program online training and assessment
- Review application, issue, and document letters
- Submit the verification report
- Ensure 2 health inspections are performed at each campus
- Document that the health inspections were completed
- Perform on-site review at each campus
- Upload student data in the Primero-edge system monthly/quarterly
- Submit student data from Primero-edge to Pear's system
- Upload data for the Community Eligibility Provision
- Attend the Annual Food Program training hosted by the Division of Food & Nutrition
- Prepare and oversee the administrative review process every 3 years
- Prepare and advertise Request for Proposal (IFB) for the Food Program
- Compile a team to assess the IFB
- Inform Bidders in writing of the final decision on the IFB
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the physical ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
- Must be able to stand for a long period of time when required
The Food Program Manager supports the team of One Bright Ray, Inc., Accelerated School Model. All duties listed above will be supported by the organization’s leadership team, and Directors are expected to make strong efforts to communicate and carry out these duties, and to seek assistance when needed. In addition, not all duties are listed, and this job description may evolve as the year progresses.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
