Courses combine lecture, laboratory investigations, demonstrations, class discussions, and hands-on activities designed to deepen students' understanding of fundamental physical principles and prepare them for success in higher education.ResponsibilitiesTeach Physics courses at the college-preparatory, Honors, and/or IB level.Develop and deliver engaging lessons that promote scientific inquiry and critical thinking.Plan, supervise, and assess laboratory investigations while maintaining a safe laboratory environment.Monitor student progress and use assessment data to guide instruction.Grade laboratory reports, assignments, projects, quizzes, and examinations in a timely manner.Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records.Communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and administrators regarding student progress.Create a classroom environment that supports students' academic, social, and emotional development.Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and instructional best practices.Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school committees as assigned.Provide extra academic support to students outside of class as needed.Assist with school responsibilities, which may include exam proctoring, study hall supervision, lunchtime coverage, substitute coverage, and teaching MCAS mathematics preparation classes for sophomores.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Physics or a closely related physical science field required; advanced degree preferred.Massachusetts Physics (812) license or eligibility to obtain licensure.Physics MTEL passed or the ability to obtain certification.Strong content knowledge in mechanics, electricity and magnetism, waves, optics, and modern physics.Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.Commitment to high academic standards and student achievement.Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and administration.
