Overview
The University of Detroit Mercy is seeking a dynamic and energetic Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach to join our department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in Division I athletics. The Assistant Coach will be primarily responsible for the performance programs for Men's Soccer, Women's Lacrosse, and Softball.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement programs for assigned teams
- Lead strength and conditioning sessions focused on strength, speed, mobility, and injury prevention tailored to individual athlete needs.
- Support a positive, but intense training environment
- Assist with the management of the sports nutrition program
- Assist with the sport science program
- Assist with the development of graduate assistant coaches and interns
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, athlete progress, and incident reports to ensure seamless program delivery.
Skills
- Proven experience in S&C coaching with a focus on team leadership and athlete development.
- Strong communication skills for effective coach interaction and team coordination.
- Knowledge of AED operation, first aid procedures, CPR certification required.
- Experience coaching soccer, lacrosse, or softball athletes
- Ability to manage behavior constructively while fostering a fun and disciplined environment.
- CSCS required
- Masters Degree Preferred
