The 20th Judicial Circuit Juvenile Office (Franklin, Gasconade and Osage Counties) announces an opening and seeks applicants for a PART- TIME (20 hr/wk) Juvenile Officer I or Juvenile Officer II. This is journey level professional work in the enforcement and administration of the Missouri juvenile justice system. An employee of this position is vested with the statutory authority of a juvenile court officer and is expected to exercise supervision over juveniles under the court’s jurisdiction and to work with a high degree of independence. Duties may include, but are not limited to: Respond to daily referrals made by law enforcement agencies, schools or the Department of Social Services; Detain juveniles who may be charged with delinquent offenses; provide and explain legal rights to alleged offenders; assist legal counsel in the preparation of petitions and other legal documents regarding juveniles on caseload; prepare social summary investigations/review summations/certification reports; process and assess reports; supervise juveniles placed on supervision; coordinate and manage juvenile treatment services; conduct informal and formal conferences with juveniles/custodians; attend court for juveniles on caseload; take custody of juveniles who are victims of abuse/neglect for placement in alternative care.

This position requires the applicant to have graduated from a four-year college or university with a degree in Criminal Justice Administration, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or a related field OR Associate’s in one of those professions PLUS 2 years professional employment in a public or private agency involving substantial amount of time (over 50% time) in the delivery of protective services to families, adults, children, or the aged.
Salary is dependent on education and experience, and the position offers benefits, with a flexible home/work balance. This is a State of Missouri position.
