MCC is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and dependable Maintenance & Janitorial Technician to help keep our early childhood learning center clean, safe, and well-maintained. This position will be responsible for both building maintenance and daily cleaning/janitorial duties.
Responsibilities
Maintenance & Grounds
- Perform general maintenance and repairs throughout the center.
- Complete routine inspections and report safety or maintenance concerns.
- Maintain and repair doors, locks, fixtures, furniture, playground equipment, and other facility items.
- Assist with seasonal maintenance, including snow removal, lawn care, and landscaping.
- Keep outdoor areas, walkways, and playgrounds safe and well-maintained.
- Respond to maintenance requests and complete repairs in a timely manner.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
- Coordinate with administration when outside contractors or specialized repairs are needed.
Cleaning & Janitorial
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and remove trash throughout the building.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and frequently used areas.
- Complete deep-cleaning tasks as needed.
- Maintain clean and sanitary restrooms and replenish supplies.
- Follow proper procedures for handling and storing cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain an organized supply area and notify administration when cleaning supplies need to be ordered.
- Help ensure the facility remains clean, safe, and welcoming for children, families, and staff.
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance, janitorial, custodial, handyman, construction, or facilities experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repairs preferred.
- Previous cleaning or custodial experience preferred.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Comfortable working in an active early childhood environment.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift, carry, bend, climb, and perform physical maintenance and cleaning tasks as needed.
- Must be able to successfully complete required background checks and meet Illinois childcare employment requirements.
Schedule
Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Some flexibility may be required for emergencies, special projects, or seasonal maintenance needs.
