Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Manage complex medical procedures such as IV infusions, catheterizations, wound suturing, and ventilator management.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient information thoroughly and efficiently.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as critical care (ICU), emergency medicine, trauma medicine, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology, geriatrics, pediatrics, hospice & palliative medicine, and behavioral health.
- Coordinate discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies for patients with chronic conditions or disabilities.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical imaging support when needed.
- Support infection control practices and adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Assist with patient education on health coaching, nutrition, medication management, and post-discharge care plans.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in good standing with current state requirements.
- Proven experience working in diverse clinical environments such as hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, urgent care centers, or long-term care facilities.
- Critical care experience preferred, including ICU or trauma center exposure (Level I or II Trauma Center experience).
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology necessary for accurate patient assessment and documentation.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is highly valued.
- Ability to perform advanced procedures such as tube feeding management, spinal taps, sonography support, ostomy care, neonatal resuscitation procedures (NRP), and sterile processing techniques.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and provide compassionate patient education.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications like ACLS or PALS are a plus.
