Senior Marine Technician
Pay: $35.00–$45.00 per hour

Position Summary
An established San Diego marine services company is seeking an experienced Senior Marine Technician to support the maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modernization of private, commercial and government vessels.
This is a high-level technician position intended for someone who can work independently, troubleshoot complex problems, take ownership of assigned work, and consistently produce high-quality results with limited supervision.
Compensation within the posted range will be based on demonstrated experience, technical capability, certifications, leadership ability, and the ability to perform independently.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain marine mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and vessel systems
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and identify effective repair solutions
- Perform removals, installations, inspections, testing, and system commissioning
- Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, schematics, and work packages
- Complete assigned work accurately and within established schedules
- Document work performed and maintain proper quality-control records
- Coordinate with supervisors, quality personnel, customers, and other trades
- Lead or assist less-experienced technicians when required
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Take ownership of jobs from initial evaluation through final completion
Qualifications
- Seven or more years of professional marine repair, shipyard, boatyard, or closely related experience
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with marine engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, pumps, hydraulics, steering systems, or related vessel equipment
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Reliable attendance and a professional work ethic
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting equipment
- Ability to work aboard vessels, in confined spaces, and in an active boatyard environment
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Experience
- Government, military, commercial, or defense-contractor vessel experience
- Diesel engine troubleshooting and repair
- Marine electrical troubleshooting
- Hydraulic system repair
- Vessel commissioning and operational testing
- Quality-assurance documentation
- Crew leadership or lead-technician experience
- ABYC, OEM, welding, electrical, diesel, or other relevant certifications
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Day shift
- Overtime may be available based on workload
- Occasional schedule flexibility may be required
Compensation
$35.00–$45.00 per hour
The upper end of the range is reserved for candidates who demonstrate advanced troubleshooting ability, broad marine systems knowledge, leadership capability, and the ability to complete complex work with minimal oversight.
