Registered Nurse - OR experience is a MUST

RN - OR Education & Licensing
§ Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing required
§ Current licensure as a RN in the State of New York required
§ BLS and ACLS required will provide all if not current
§ Current member of CNOR preferred
Experience
§ At least 1 year of OR experience in a multispecialty Ambulatory Surgery setting in the last 3-5 years require
Registered Nurse - OR Essential Functions
§ Develops an individualized plan of care based on nursing assessment, medical diagnoses, and knowledge of specific illnesses, injuries, diseases, surgical procedures and appropriate standards of care
§ Collaborates with other disciplines to maximize patient outcomes and effect a smooth flow of the surgical experience
§ Plans and utilizes resources efficiently to complete the daily schedule in a timely manner while providing safe and individualized patient care
§ Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of special needs for various age groups including, adult and geriatric when providing resources for the perioperative experience
§ Reassesses, evaluates and revises the implementation of the plan of care to meet the changing needs of the patient
§ Responds appropriately to changes in the patient’s condition and/or behavior
§ Completes appropriate portions of the patient record accurately and thoroughly
§ Function as a Scrub/circulating nurse during multi-specialty surgical procedures:
o Orthopedics (Scopes, Knees, Shoulders and Ankles)
o Vascular surgery, Pain Management, Podiatry and GI.
o Serves as the patient advocate before, during, and after surgery / procedure.
o Demonstrate knowledge of safe positioning and use of positioning equipment.
o Maintains both a sterile and safe environment for the patient before, during, and after the surgery; / procedure; and
o Performs required responsibilities independently and with team members in compliance with departmental policies and procedures
