The Oral Surgery Institute of the Carolinas is seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Treatment Coordinator to join our busy dual-provider oral surgery practice. Position Summary
As our Treatment Coordinator, you will meet with patients following their surgical consultation to present treatment plans, review insurance benefits, explain financial responsibilities, and answer questions with professionalism and compassion. You will serve as a key liaison between patients, our clinical team, referring providers, and insurance companies to ensure every patient receives timely, coordinated care. In addition, you will play a vital role in managing our providers' surgical schedules to maximize efficiency while meeting the needs of our patients and referring offices.
Primary Responsibilities
- Present and explain treatment plans following patient consultations.
- Calculate estimated insurance benefits and patient financial responsibility with accuracy.
- Verify dental and medical insurance benefits.
- Submit insurance pre-determinations and monitor their status.
- Manage and optimize provider surgical schedules, balancing efficiency, urgency, and patient needs.
- Coordinate treatment scheduling with patients, clinical staff, and referring providers.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to coordinate patient treatment across multiple offices and providers.
- Facilitate communication between our office and referring doctors regarding mutual patients.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings with referring offices as needed.
- Track, monitor, and report treatment case acceptance rates and other key performance metrics.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, and OneDrive for reporting, tracking, and daily workflow.
- Collaborate closely with providers and the clinical team to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
Qualifications
Preferred Experience
- 3+ years of experience in a dental, oral surgery, medical, or surgical specialty practice preferred.
- Previous experience as a Treatment Coordinator, Patient Coordinator, Surgical Coordinator, or similar role is highly desirable.
- Experience verifying insurance benefits, submitting pre-determinations, and presenting treatment plans.
- Experience coordinating provider schedules in a high-volume healthcare setting.
Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant healthcare experience will be considered.

- Strong mathematical and arithmetic abilities with the ability to accurately estimate insurance benefits and patient financial responsibility.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
