Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay. There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county: Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Position is located at Osawatomie State Hospital, days/hours may vary. This position may require you to work weekends. A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment.
All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers, and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion.
The purpose of the Technology Support Consultant II is to provide is advanced technical work advising and assisting computer users in solving problems in a distributed computing environment. Work includes installation of hardware and software, troubleshooting, configuring client server-based application software for LAN, server hardware, operating systems and application systems in a WAN environment. Additionally, this position is expected to engage in routine educational opportunities to expand their general IT knowledge and understanding of the agencies IT environment.
The essential functions of this position require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Must be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.
Osawatomie State Hospital Adair Acute Care is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary: This is advanced technical work advising and assisting computer users in solving problems in a distributed computing environment. Work includes installation of hardware and software, troubleshooting, configuring client server-based application software for LAN, server hardware, operating systems and application systems in a WAN environment. Requires lifting 20-50 pounds and being able to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop and twist for long periods of time throughout shift. Be available to travel for training, coverage, or as designated by IT Manager when necessary.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Resolve cases, incidents, and service requests within the ServiceNow ticketing system.

Provide onsite troubleshooting, and fixes to resolve computer issues, and work with vendors to get replacement parts for the equipment.

Provide hardware peripheral installations and demonstrating hardware and software to computer users.

Complete new machine deployments, install and upgrade software as needed, and help establish formal standards and procedures to be used by IT department.

Work to support physical network, telecommunications, overhead paging, and campus security systems.

Performs Tier 3 tasks on server and network infrastructure or uses provided learning tools to acquire knowledge to support these efforts for OSH.

Implement and support the IT Manager’s goals/visions for Osawatomie State Hospital by collaborating with the design and implementation of IT services, processes, and policies.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Qualifications: One year advising and assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment.
Preferred Qualifications that may be used to screen applicants:

Three years advising and assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment.

Knowledge of the operation of industry standard software packages, utility programs, and service aids.

Ability to install and maintain vendor-supplied software packages.

Ability to read and comprehend technical information relating to proprietary software, networking equipment, computers and servers, or telecommunications hardware systems.

Ability to troubleshoot/repair computer hardware.

Ability to support server hardware and server operations such as IIS, Active Directory, or DHCP

Ability to troubleshoot physical or logical network issues and perform logical network configurations
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Positions in this class require that at the time of appointment the selected candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services. Persons hired must also pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and Disability Services must pass a criminal background check.
