Kitchen Manager
Lore Brewing Company is looking for a working Kitchen Manager to help lead our kitchen.
We’re a locally owned brewery and taproom built around great beer and food, and a welcoming place for people to gather. We’re looking for someone who can bring strong leadership, operational expertise, and a commitment to excellence to our back-of-house team.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The Kitchen Manager will work scheduled shifts on the line, lead during service, keep prep moving, coach the team, solve problems in real time, and make sure every plate that leaves the kitchen feels like something we’re proud to serve.
What You’ll Do
As Kitchen Manager, you’ll help keep the kitchen running clean, consistent, and ready for service. This position includes regular line shifts and active service work, along with leadership and administrative responsibilities.
Responsibilities include:
- Working scheduled shifts on the line during prep, service, and closing
- Leading, training, and supporting kitchen staff during daily operations
- Setting the pace during busy shifts and jumping into stations as needed
- Keeping food quality, presentation, portions, and ticket times consistent
- Managing prep lists, station setup, food rotation, and par levels
- Monitoring inventory and communicating ordering needs
- Helping control food costs, reduce waste, and keep the kitchen efficient
- Maintaining food safety, sanitation, labeling, and health department standards
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organized, stocked, and ready for the next rush
- Supporting menu execution and suggesting practical improvements
- Holding team members accountable in a fair, professional, team-first way
- Working closely with ownership, management, bar staff, and taproom staff
- Helping build systems that make the kitchen smoother, cleaner, and more consistent
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone dependable, organized, and calm when things get busy. The right person takes pride in doing things the right way, even when the KDS fills up and the ticket times are running.
This role is best for someone who wants to lead by doing. You should be comfortable on the line, comfortable coaching others, and comfortable taking ownership of both the food and the flow of the kitchen.
A strong fit for this role will have:
- Previous kitchen leadership experience, such as Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, Lead Line Cook, or similar role
- Strong cooking, prep, and line experience
- Ability and willingness to work regular line shifts
- Ability to lead by example and work hands-on with the team
- Good communication and organization skills
- Solid understanding of food safety, sanitation, labeling, and proper food storage
- Ability to manage priorities during busy service
- Dependability, punctuality, and a professional attitude
- Willingness to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed
- ServSafe certification required, or willingness to obtain it
