Summary
As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at the First Responders Wellness Center, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality mental health testing and clinical services for first responders, veterans, and their spouses. You will join a mission-driven practice exclusively dedicated to public safety personnel, where clinicians understand first responder culture firsthand.
Responsibilities
- Specialized Evaluations: Conduct pre-employment psychological evaluations, FOID reinstatements, and Fitness for Duty Evaluations (FFDE).
- Clinical Therapy: Provide individual and/or couples therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based, trauma-focused treatment modalities, including CBT, CPT, ERT, DBT, and EMDR.
- Supervision: Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to interns and Post-Doc fellows.
- Trauma Expertise: Demonstrate a deep understanding of the impact of trauma on the brain and the diagnosis of PTSD.
- Case Management: Assess and diagnose clients to develop comprehensive, individualized treatment plans.
- Collaborative Care: Participate in a supportive learning environment, receiving a minimum of one hour of consultation and didactics with all staff weekly.
Qualifications
- Education: Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Valid state license to practice as a Clinical Psychologist in Illinois.
- Experience: Proficiency in conducting psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and pre-employment testing.
- Knowledge: Strong expertise in evidence-based therapeutic interventions and trauma-informed care specifically tailored for the first responder and veteran community.
Skills and Competencies
- Trauma-Informed Care: Specialized training in treating trauma and stressor-related disorders within first responder and veteran populations.
- Assessment Proficiency: Skilled in FFDE evaluations and mental health certifications for firearm possession (FOID) under Illinois law.
- Communication: Ability to establish rapport with diverse clients and provide expert clinical findings.
