Direct Support Professional I - Respite
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Schedule: As needed by the family, 5 hours
The Respite worker provides families of children with special health care needs a relief from their responsibilities by providing one to one direct care for their child within or outside the home by implementing a safety and service plan. All duties will vary depending on the specific needs of each child. Parent/caretaker will provide all training specific to their child. Safety plan must be reviewed and implemented when necessary. Provide safe one to one care per the plan for children with special health care needs as directed by parents/caretakers. Exceptions made when providing respite to siblings who receive respite services.
Provide socialization opportunities within home and/or outside of home when appropriate.
Provide family with a relief from caring for their child with special health care needs.
Perform all necessary self-care tasks as needed by the individual supported.
Provide transportation to and from all social activities only as approved by parent/caretaker.
Carry out specific tasks outlined in the respite safety and service plan.
Provide required documentation to coordinator in a timely manner (timesheets and incident reports, if needed).
ON CALL – as needed per approved hours and parent request.
Contribute to the positive morale by representing the agency through professional communication and interactions
Arrive punctually and participates in all required meetings and trainings.
Drive people to destinations necessary for them to experience a full and diversified life, following all safety and legal regulations.
Provide support to other areas of the agency, as needed.
Respond effectively to potential safety hazards and emergencies.
Maintain a clean, orderly and safe environment by being respectful of property and equipment. Follow proper maintenance instructions.
Report incidents as required by regulations.
Ensure workplace safety. Perform other duties as assigned.
