Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Services Assistant to support individuals and families in need of social services. The ideal candidate will assist with crisis intervention, behavioral health support, and community resource navigation. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within our community by providing guidance, mentorship, and support to vulnerable populations, including children and adults facing various challenges. The position requires a strong understanding of social work principles, crisis management, and behavioral health strategies to effectively serve clients' needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide crisis intervention and crisis management to clients experiencing urgent mental health or social issues
- Assist clients with addiction counseling and behavioral health support plans
- Support families with child welfare services, including Child Protective Services and Childcare assistance
- Facilitate motivational interviewing sessions to encourage positive behavioral changes
- Supervise and mentor clients in workforce development programs and community engagement activities
- Assist clients with Section 8 housing applications and Medicare-related services
- Collaborate with community agencies to coordinate resources for clients needing social or healthcare services
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and service plans in compliance with agency policies
- Support clients in navigating complex systems such as Medicaid, Medicare, and other social programs
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay current on best practices in social work and behavioral health
Experience
- Previous experience in social work, behavioral health, or related fields is preferred
- Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention, crisis management, and addiction counseling
- Supervising experience or mentoring roles are advantageous
- Knowledge of child welfare systems, Section 8 housing programs, Medicare, and workforce development initiatives is desirable
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and empower clients from diverse backgrounds
- Experience working with vulnerable populations such as children, families, or individuals facing mental health challenges is a plus

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
