Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, bulldozers, and other industrial machinery.
- Conduct fabrication work including welding, soldering, and custom modifications to meet operational needs.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues using schematics, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals, and electrical diagrams to identify root causes efficiently.
- Service and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension components, and HVAC systems on heavy machinery.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to perform repairs with precision and safety.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Assist with heavy lifting operations safely using appropriate heavy equipment operation techniques.
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all repairs performed.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in heavy equipment repair; dealership experience is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques including welding, soldering, and assembly of mechanical parts.
- Familiarity with excavator, crane, forklift, tractor-trailer systems, and farm machinery is advantageous.
- Ability to read schematics, OEM manuals, electrical diagrams, and technical service bulletins.
- Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics and electrical systems related to heavy machinery.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, alignment tools, and diagnostic equipment for maintenance tasks.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, suspension systems, tire service, brake repair, and vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety protocols; valid certifications in OSHA or equivalent are a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
