JOB SUMMARY:
A Personal Banker I processes all transactions accurately and efficiently in accordance with established policies and procedures. The successful Personal Banker I will be the “frontline” of our bank and plays a fundamental role in achieving our customer satisfaction and revenue growth objectives by cross-selling bank products and services. A Personal Banker I should have a professional appearance, customer-focused attitude and should be courteous, efficient, helpful, accurate, eager to learn and friendly.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately process a high volume of customer transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, check cashing, and other routine teller transactions in accordance with bank policies and procedures.
- Verify endorsements, signatures, negotiability, account balances, and required identification prior to processing transactions.
- Receive, count, verify, and disburse currency and coin while maintaining balancing standards.
- Maintain, balance, and reconcile an assigned cash drawer, including vault buys and sells, currency and coin orders, and cash recycler transactions where applicable.
- Process commercial and consumer night deposits, bank-by-mail transactions, and currency and coin exchange requests.
- Assist customers with safe deposit box access in accordance with established procedures.
- Issue cashier’s checks, money order, prepaid cards, and other official bank instruments.
- Process miscellaneous branch services including savings bond redemptions, collection items, utility payments, property tax payments, license sticker renewals, postal services, and cred card cash advances where applicable.
- Complete and maintain required regulatory documentation, including Currency Transaction Reports (CTR), monetary instrument logs, hold notices, and other documentation required under BSA/AML and related regulations.
- Reconcile teller work, branch capture, ancillary services, ATMs, and cash recyclers, as assigned.
- Order, receive, verify, and distribute cash shipments from the Federal Reserve or armored carrier.
- Research and resolve teller outages, balancing differences, and transaction discrepancies.
- Accurately scan and balance daily teller work in accordance with bank procedures.
- Perform branch operational duties including processing reports, transaction corrections, and operational documentation.
- Assist with branch opening and closing procedures as assigned.
- Perform other operational duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES – PERSONAL BANKER II
- Perform advanced teller functions requiring greater technical knowledge and independent judgment.
- Process complex transactions and assist with exception items and balancing discrepancies.
- Perform daily balancing and reconciliation of teller ancillary services in accordance with established procedures.
- Serve as a resource to other tellers regarding operational procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with ATM servicing, vault operations, and branch cash management.
- Support training and onboarding of new tellers.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES – PERSONAL BANKER III
- Serve as the lead teller and operational resource within the branch.
- Balance and reconcile the vault, cash recycler, ATMs, and branch cash position.
- Perform supervisor overrides and authorize transactions within established authority.
- Make check hold decisions in accordance with bank policy.
- Conduct teller audits, investigate outages, and resolve balancing issues.
- Train, coach, and mentor tellers on operational procedures, cash handling, balancing, and compliance.
- Assist branch management with operational reporting, cash management, internal controls, and audit preparation.
- Provide operational leadership in the absence of branch management.
TECHNICAL SKILLS NEEDED:

PERSONAL BANKER II – TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Advanced knowledge of teller operations, cash handling, and branch operational procedures.
- Ability to independently reconcile cash drawers, teller ancillary services, ATMs, cash recyclers, and branch capture.
- Knowledge of vault operations, cash ordering, cash shipments, and currency control procedures.
- Working knowledge of Currency Transaction Report (CTR) requirements, monetary instrument logs, and other regulatory documentation.
- Ability to research and resolve balancing discrepancies and transaction exceptions.
- Strong understanding of BSA/AML, OFAC, CIP, Regulation CC, and other regulations affecting teller operations.
- Proficiency processing complex teller transactions and ancillary banking services.

- Expertise investigating and resolving teller outages, operational discrepancies, and complex transaction exceptions.
- Advanced knowledge of branch operational procedures, audit standards, and cash control practices.

PERSONAL BANKER II – QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of teller or retail banking experience, or equivalent cash handling experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in teller balancing, transaction processing, and branch operational procedures.
- Experience reconciling cash, researching balancing discrepancies, and processing complex teller transactions.
PERSONAL BANKER III – QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of progressive teller or retail banking experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in branch cash management, vault operations, ATM balancing, and teller operations.
- Experience performing supervisory teller functions, including transaction approvals, overrides, check hold decisions, and operational balancing.
- Experience training, coaching, or mentoring employees preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, resolve complex operational issues, and support branch leadership.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS:
- Work is performed primarily in a retail banking environment with frequent interaction with customers and employees.
- Ability to work a schedule that supports the bank’s operating hours, including weekdays 7:45 am – 6:15 pm, Saturdays on rotation 7:45 am – 12:45 pm, and occasional overtime or travel to other branch locations as business needs require.
- Regularly stand for extended periods while providing customer service and processing transactions.
- Frequently use hands and fingers to handle currency, coin, checks, office equipment, and computer systems requiring fine motor skills and manual dexterity.
- Frequently communicate with customers and coworkers in person and by telephone.
- Regularly operate office equipment, including computers, scanners, printers, cash recyclers, ATMs, and other banking equipment.
- Ability to accurately count, sort, package, and verify currency and coin.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull cash boxes, coin bags, and office supplies weighing up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and move throughout the bank location while performing operational duties.
- Visual ability to read computer screens, review financial documents, verify customer identification, and distinguish currency denominations.
- Ability to maintain concentration and accuracy while performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Pay Range: $16.00 to $19.00 per hour
PERSONAL BANKER II
Pay Range: $17.00 to $21.00 per hour
PERSONAL BANKER III
Pay Range: $19.00 to $24.00 per hour
