We are seeking a Part-Time Evening Janitor to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of state office buildings during evening hours. The ideal candidate will be reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of completing routine cleaning tasks while also performing scheduled deep cleaning activities as required. This position requires the ability to pass a background check and / or fingerprinting, and to successfully document the completion of both regular and periodic cleaning tasks. The role is essential in ensuring a clean, safe, and professional environment for state employees and visitors.

Monday; Wednesday; Sunday
Any time after 5pm
$15 per hour
5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Routine Cleaning:

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and spot clean floors in common areas, hallways, restrooms, and offices.

Empty trash cans and replace liners in offices, break rooms, restrooms, and hallways.

Dust and wipe down furniture, fixtures, window sills, and surfaces.

Clean and sanitize restrooms, ensuring they are fully stocked with soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.

Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, including door handles, light switches, and handrails.

Perform light cleaning of glass and windows as needed.

Deep Cleaning & Maintenance Tasks:

Follow a cleaning schedule to complete monthly and quarterly deep cleaning activities such as high dusting, baseboard cleaning, and ceiling fan maintenance.

Ensure that cleaning supplies and equipment are properly maintained, and report any equipment issues to the Facilities Manager.

Safety & Compliance:

Ensure the proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment in compliance with safety guidelines.

Complete and document cleaning activities according to established schedules and checklists.

Follow state building safety protocols, ensuring that all cleaning practices contribute to a safe and healthy environment.

Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or damage to the Facilities Manager immediately.

Other Duties as Assigned:

Assist with event setup or teardown as needed (e.g., for meetings or conferences).

Other janitorial duties as assigned by the area supervisor

Education & Experience:
-
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or facilities maintenance roles is a plus but not required.

Skills & Abilities:

Ability to perform routine and deep cleaning tasks independently.

Attention to detail and ability to maintain high cleaning standards.

Ability to use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely.

Licenses/Certifications:

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting.

Must be able to complete documentation for monthly and periodic deep cleaning items and maintain records as required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.

Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.

Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.

This is a part-time, evening position typically scheduled for Monday through Friday.

Work hours are flexible, but will generally fall between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM.

This position requires working in office environments, including exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and cleaning equipment.
