JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Traffic Manager, the Part-Time Roll-Off Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of roll-off containers to and from customer locations. This position plays an important role in providing exceptional customer service while ensuring materials are transported safely and efficiently. Drivers are home every day with no overnight travel. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, enjoys working independently, and takes pride in representing wTe Recycling professionally.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDriving & Customer Service
- Safely operate a roll-off truck to deliver and retrieve containers at customer locations.
- Provide courteous, professional, and responsive customer service during pickups and deliveries.
- Secure loads and ensure materials are transported safely and in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Communicate effectively with the Traffic Manager regarding scheduling, customer requests, and any issues encountered during routes.
Equipment Inspection & Maintenance
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Report mechanical issues, safety concerns, or vehicle damage promptly.
- Maintain the cleanliness and general appearance of assigned equipment.
Safety & Compliance
- Operate commercial vehicles in accordance with all DOT regulations, company policies, and safe driving practices.
- Maintain required driver logs and documentation as applicable.
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required on customer sites and at the facility.
Administrative & Other Duties
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
SCHEDULE & WORK CONDITIONS
- Part-time position averaging 0 to 30 hours per week.
- Monday through Saturday daytime hours.
- Home every day. No overnight travel.
- Schedule may vary based on customer demand and operational needs.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed.
- Work is performed in varying weather conditions and industrial environments.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum CDL Class B license required.
- CDL Class A preferred.
- Experience operating roll-off trucks preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
- Must be able to safely operate a manual transmission.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Strong attendance and reliability are required.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must have a clean driving record and maintain insurability under the company's insurance requirements.
- Ability to safely navigate customer locations and job sites.
- Previous commercial driving experience is preferred.
PHYSICAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to climb in and out of commercial vehicles multiple times throughout the day.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend, climb, walk, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, gloves, hearing protection when required, and safety-toed boots.
