Position Specification: Idaho Outside Sales & Marketing Team Professional

Position Overview:
We are a fast-paced, high activity sales team. As a member of the J.M. Thomas Outside Sales & Marketing team, you will work closely with our retail accounts to grow product lines and relationships as well as promote sales of the entire J.M. Thomas Forest Products product line.
Our Outside Sales Team is generally the first line of contact with all new customers and is in constant contact with all existing customers. The overall goal is to establish and maintain professional relationships and growth with our new and current customer base and product offerings. Our team is also accountable to grow and establish relationships with our suppliers and manufacturers.
Responsibilities:
- Territory: Boise, ID (Candidate must live in the Ada County, Canyon County area during employment).
- Travel required – Crossover to multiple territories between Utah and Idaho
- Work well with all members of the Outside Sales and Marketing team in all territories
- Understand and comply with established guidelines that ensure a safe and healthy work environment
- Achieve overall growth in sales and build customer relationships
- Product Knowledge – You will be required to become proficient in all JMT products and competing products
- Installation Knowledge and best practices in all products
- You will be required to do presentations and trainings on products and installation
- Attend and participate in Customer events, JMT Events, Trade Shows, Conferences, Mill Trips, and all other Marketing events
- Knowledgeable in market trends, requirements, and data
- Maintain & report on customer information, important issues, ordering habits, performance, and communicate any customer information that may affect decisions. Manage and interpret customer requirements or requests. Speaking to understand, anticipate, and meet their needs.
- Put together, present, and close programs or opportunities
- Provide exemplary service
- Maintain sample and display areas and keep an “in stock” position
- Ability to communicate well with our Inside Sales team and be a Team Player to all
- Attend ALL Outside Sales Quarterly Meetings and attend weekly sales meetings
- Prepare for and plan customer meetings, account reviews, and action plans as well as follow-up
- You are the face, eyes, and ears of J.M. Thomas Forest Products and will be held to a high standard. You are responsible for setting the expectation.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
- Excellent Communicator – Strong interpersonal & communication skills are a must (Verbal and Written)
- Ability to speak in front of crowds
- Knowledge of Marketing, Sales, and Public Relation techniques
- High School Diploma or greater
- Higher Education is preferred, but not required
- Confidence in quoting prices and other bid specifications
- Confidence in product knowledge to assist in making product selections based on customer’s needs, product specifications, and code requirements
- Ability to work independently, without supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher
