Job Overview
Applicants must have a technical/mechanical background and ability to perform semi-skilled installation, maintenance, and repair of municipal water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Duties include, but are not limited to, year round maintenance and repair of water and wastewater components as well as buildings and associated grounds, and assisting DPW staff with similar duties on other village owned properties as needed. This position is intended to prepare a chosen candidate for future work as assistant water and wastewater plant operator. Training for water/sewer system operations will be provided, with the objective of earning certifications required by New York State after one year of employment. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the job, including year round work outdoors.
Minimum education - Graduation from high school or possession of a New York State high school equivalency diploma. Post-secondary education in mechanical trades/environmental sciences desired.
Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License.
Salary range $45,000-$50,000/year depending on experience and/or education.
