Job Summary
The Deposit Relationship Manager is responsible for driving low-cost core deposit growth and building deep, long-term financial relationships within the local community. Operating in a high-touch, community bank environment, this role focuses on sourcing and managing deposit-centric relationships with local small-to-medium businesses (SMBs), municipalities, non-profits, and high-net-worth individuals. The ideal candidate blends a deeply rooted local networking approach with the sophisticated financial acumen necessary to advise C-suite executives and navigate complex regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Deposit Gathering: Proactively identify, prospect, and onboard high-net-worth individuals, businesses, municipalities, and non-profit organizations to secure low-cost core deposits.
- Portfolio & Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for a dedicated portfolio of deposit-rich clients, ensuring exceptional service, high retention rates, and maximum share of wallet.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Commercial Lenders to cross-sell deposit and cash management services to borrowing clients, and coordinate with local Branch officers to ensure seamless client onboarding.
- Liquidity Consulting: Advise clients on optimizing their yield, liquidity, and safety through tailored deposit structures, including specialized business accounts, escrow solutions, and extended insurance products (e.g., ICS/CDARS).
- Onboarding Coordination: Coordinate with internal deposit operations, compliance, and onboarding teams to ensure seamless client experience during account setup and funds transition.
- Risk & Compliance Management: Ensure all new and existing accounts strictly adhere to Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) regulations.
- Margin Optimization: Manage deposit pricing and exception requests, balancing client satisfaction with the bank’s net interest margin (NIM) objectives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent community banking experience.
- Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in retail banking, business banking, or branch management within a community or regional bank setting, with a proven track record of deposit acquisition.
- Community Connection: Strong existing network of professional contacts and business relationships within the local market area is highly preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Sales & C-Suite Negotiation: Advanced networking, pitching, and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to present financial solutions to Individuals and business owners.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of bank regulatory compliance, particularly regarding corporate account structures, BSA, and AML standards.
- Community Banking Mindset: Deep appreciation for the community banking model, featuring a hands-on, "no task is too small" attitude and a passion for supporting local businesses.
- Core Banking Product Knowledge: Solid understanding of individual and business deposit accounts, basic treasury management tools (RDC, ACH, online banking platforms), and deposit placement networks.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
