Position Overview
Are you a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment? We are seeking a dedicated Field Tech Officer (FTO) to join our technical operations team at a Level 1 capacity.
In this role, you will be providing critical on-site hardware, software, and network support directly at client premises. Because our clients rely on us for seamless, high-availability operations, this position requires flexibility to work nights and weekends on a rotational or as-needed basis. If you are self-motivated, technically curious, and excel at turning frustrated clients into happy partners, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Execution
- Deployment & Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, routers, mobile devices, and core network equipment.
- Troubleshooting: Perform diagnostic assessments and on-site troubleshooting for hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- OS & Software Support: Install and configure Windows operating systems and standard business software applications.
- Infrastructure & Peripherals: Set up and support VoIP phones, surveillance systems, and other local hardware peripherals.
- Systems Management: Handle device replacements, data backups, antivirus deployment, and routine patching.
- Documentation: Meticulously document every site visit, ticket resolution, and issue escalation. Report recurring technical trends to leadership for root-cause analysis.
Client Relations & Communication
- Bridge the Gap: Communicate technical concepts clearly and empathetically to non-technical clients, especially during high-pressure situations.
- Active Listening: Diagnose issues by actively listening to clients to extract their exact pain points.
- Professionalism: Represent the company with a professional appearance, top-tier punctuality, and absolute discretion regarding confidential client data.
- Client Education: Gently guide and educate clients on best practices without rushing or sounding patronizing.
- Collaboration: Maintain detailed notes to ensure smooth ticket hand-offs to fellow technicians.
Job Requirements
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in IT support or hands-on technical field work (desktop/network support).
- Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), Windows environments, and cloud tools.
- Tools: Familiarity with ticketing systems, documentation platforms, and remote access tools (experience with ServiceNow and Asset Panda is a major plus).
- Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel efficiently between various client sites.
- Physical Ability: Able to lift and move equipment weighing up to approximately 30 lbs.
- Availability: Must be available for day, night, and weekend shifts as dictated by business needs and project requirements.
- Preferred Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent certifications are highly valued.
The Ideal Candidate
- Composed under pressure: A natural problem-solver who stays calm when a system goes down or a client is frustrated.
- Detail-oriented: Understands that a job isn't finished until the ticket notes and documentation are accurately updated.
- Resourceful but responsible: Knows how to troubleshoot independently, but also knows exactly when to escalate an issue instead of guessing.
- Time-aware: Possesses the ability to triage and prioritize on-site tasks effectively to respect the client's schedule.
- Growth-minded: Intrinsically curious, eager to learn new tools, and continuously leveling up their skill set.
