CNC Operator and Programmer

CNC Lathe Setup, Programmer, and Operator
Position Summary:
· We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Lathe Setup, Programmer & Operator with a minimum of 10 years of machine shop experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience setting up and operating CNC lathes, proving out programs, and programming using Mastercam and GibbsCAM software. Experience with Mori Seiki CNC machines is strongly preferred.
· This position requires a hands-on machinist capable of taking a job from blueprint to finished part while maintaining strict quality standards and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
· Set up and operate Mori Seiki CNC lathes and related equipment.
· Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam and GibbsCAM software.
· Prove out new and existing programs and make necessary adjustments to improve process performance.
· Read and interpret route sheets, engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
· Select tooling, establish work offsets, and determine cutting parameters.
· Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments.
· Accurately complete inspection reports and production documentation.
· Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and programming issues.
· Work closely with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure product conformance.
· Maintain productivity, quality, and safety standards within the machine shop.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives related to machining processes and cycle time reduction.
Required Qualifications:
· Minimum 10 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
· Extensive experience with CNC lathe setup and operation.
· Ability to independently set up machines and prove out programs.
· Hands-on programming experience using Mastercam and GibbsCAM.
· Experience operating Mori Seiki equipment.
· Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
· Proficiency with precision measuring equipment including:
· Micrometers
· Calipers
· Bore Gauges
· Height Gauges
· Indicators
· Ability to inspect parts and accurately document inspection results.
· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience machining aerospace, defense, medical, or other tight-tolerance precision components.
· Familiarity with Fanuc-controlled machines.
· Experience with multi-axis turning centers, live tooling, and mill-turn equipment.
· Knowledge of AS9100 and quality management systems.
· Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation.
Must be U.S. Person for purposes of Export Compliance.
