Job Summary
An established trucking company in El Dorado, Arkansas, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to provide hands-on accounting and operational bookkeeping support. This position will initially be a temporary role of up to 40 hours per week, with the potential to develop into a permanent, full-time opportunity.
The ideal candidate will be an intermediate-to-advanced accounting professional who is comfortable stepping into an active accounting environment, identifying priorities, and independently taking ownership of a significant portion of the company's day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions. Experience within trucking, transportation, construction, or another operationally complex industry is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform reconciliations of balance sheet, income statement, and other general ledger accounts
- Research and resolve account discrepancies, unreconciled items, and historical accounting issues
- Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances
- Assist with month-end close and preparation of accurate financial information
- Handle customer invoicing and related accounts receivable activities
- Assist with accounts payable and vendor-related accounting as needed
- Review general ledger activity for accuracy, appropriate classification, and completeness
- Prepare and post journal entries and account adjustments
- Take ownership of assigned accounting and bookkeeping workflows with limited supervision
- Help organize, prioritize, and improve existing accounting processes
- Maintain accurate supporting documentation and accounting records
- Assist with operational accounting specific to the trucking/transportation industry
- Provide additional accounting support as needs arise
Preferred Trucking & Operational Accounting Experience
Experience with some or all of the following would be particularly valuable:
- Trucking, transportation, logistics, construction, or fleet-based accounting
- Revenue and customer invoicing for transportation or project-based services
- Fuel expenses, fuel cards, and driver-related expense reconciliation
- Fleet and equipment-related accounting
- Repairs, maintenance, parts, and other vehicle operating costs
- Fixed assets and depreciation related to trucks, trailers, and equipment
- Intercompany accounting across multiple entities
- Job, route, customer, or equipment-level cost tracking
- Understanding of owner-operator or subcontractor transactions, if applicable
Qualifications
- 3+ years of progressive accounting or full-cycle bookkeeping experience; Senior Accountant-level experience preferred
- Strong general ledger knowledge with the ability to independently reconcile a wide variety of accounts
- Experience with intercompany accounting and reconciliations
- Strong invoicing and accounts receivable experience
- Intermediate-to-advanced understanding of accounting principles and financial workflows
- Experience in trucking, transportation, construction, logistics, or a similar operational environment strongly preferred
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to research discrepancies and determine appropriate solutions
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple accounting responsibilities simultaneously
- Self-directed and comfortable taking ownership of work without requiring significant day-to-day oversight
- Able to step into existing processes, identify what needs attention, and move work forward
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, timely work
Position Details
This is an in-office position in El Dorado, Arkansas and may require up to 40 hours per week initially. The role is being offered on a temporary basis, but there is potential for it to transition into a permanent, full-time position based on business needs and mutual fit.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
