Description:
The role of the learning specialist includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
The Learning Specialist will:
-
provide academic support, in small groups or individually, to students not reaching their full potential, as determined using the Diocese of Nashville Student Support Process/testing/parent information, etc.

be knowledgeable of standardized testing (psychoeducational assessment reports, occupational, speech, physical therapy reports, etc. to assist with determining student needs.

utilize and lead the team (teachers, parents, in some cases students) through the Student Support Process to determine needs and planning.

collaborate and communicate with educators and parents regarding student needs, classroom teacher responsibilities, progress, etc. based on Student Support Plan.

collaborate with teachers and principals to devise a student intervention schedule.

attend Learning Specialist and Counselor meetings at the Catholic Schools Office and relate the information back to the principal and teachers.

keep current Student Support Plan documentation (communicate with parents, teachers, principal, etc.)

assist teachers with intervention strategies for struggling students.

communicate with the principal regarding students being served, teacher needs, etc.

collaborate with other professionals serving students (speech pathologist, counselor, occupational therapist, etc.).

assist with the admission process when parents have indicated a student has had or may need support.
Requirements:
Must have at minimum a bachelor's degree in a related field of study
