The Office of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman seeks part-time Nurse Investigator/Advocate to fill a part-time Nurse Investigator/Advocate position. This position will cover the Northern New Jersey area of Sussex, Passaic, Bergen and upper Morris County.
The desired candidate will reside in this region and must possess a valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities:
Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect or exploitation of individuals living in long-term care communities; conducting on-site visits to assess a resident’s personal, social, medical and other needs and recommends appropriate action.
The Nurse Investigator will note conditions observed during investigations of long-term care facilities regarding personal property, finance, life and safety hazards, residents’ rights, medical treatment and potential physical, sexual or emotional abuse and prepares reports and correspondence related to same. Advocate for the rights of residents of long-term care communities and refers identified problems to the appropriate regulatory or law enforcement authorities.
Requirements:
* Graduate of an accredited college or university
* 6 years nursing experience in a long-term care setting
* New Jersey RN license
* Valid New Jersey driver’s license
