This is a wastewater operator position located at the Darigold Boise facility. The Wastewater Compliance Technician will operate the wastewater treatment system and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal discharge permits and promptly report any/all deviations and/or compliance issues to the Sr. Environmental Compliance Manager. Essential duties and responsibilities to be conducted under the direction of the Sr. Environmental Compliance Manager are further detailed below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- Effectively operate the wastewater treatment system for the site. Specifically control critical compliance functions related to permit terms and conditions, special operational requirements, asset management and equipment protection, data acquisition, and regulatory reporting.
- Conduct routine observations and basic servicing of critical treatment equipment.
- Conduct sample collection and laboratory analysis wastewater system samples for the purpose of controlling the treatment operations.
- Review data trending and flag anomalies and concerns related to treatment system operations and compliance.
- Calibration of critical wastewater discharge monitoring equipment and process control instrumentation to ensure discharges meet permit conditions.
- Under the direction of the Sr. Environmental Compliance Manager, conduct process discharge evaluations with plant management and production team to control and reduce upsets to pretreatment system.
- Perform all wastewater operations safely. Follow company safety policies, programs, and procedures.
- Actively increase knowledge base associated with specialized anaerobic digester operations and NPDES industrial pretreatment permits.

Equipment Used:
Various mechanical equipment related to wastewater treatment, various laboratory equipment related to wastewater treatment, hand tools, various safety equipment, powered industrial trucks, computer, software systems, cell phone, other related equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree in a technical field such as environmental science, wastewater treatment, chemistry, biology, or a related discipline, and/or (5) years of experience in industrial wastewater operations.
- Combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Certification as a Level 1 or Level 2 wastewater operator by the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with anaerobic digesters, dissolved air flotation, and waste activated sludge
- Wastewater process knowledge at a level to allow for troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret trends in Dissolved Oxygen, Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids, ammonia, and Volatile Acids/Partial Alkalinity.
- Mechanical and technical skills related to equipment.
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Capable of analyzing data and writing reports.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts.
