Job Title: Jerky Plant Cleaner
Job Summary:
The Jerky Plant Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe food production environment. This role involves cleaning processing equipment, production areas, and common spaces while following food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize production equipment, tools, and workstations.
- Wash floors, walls, drains, and other plant surfaces.
- Remove waste, trash, and recyclables from production areas.
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment for deep cleaning when required.
- Use cleaning chemicals safely according to company procedures and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and food safety regulations.
- Complete sanitation logs and required documentation.
- Report equipment damage, maintenance needs, or safety hazards to supervisors.
- Restock cleaning supplies and maintain sanitation equipment.
- Assist with cleaning during production changeovers and scheduled shutdowns.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Spanish and English is a plus!!
- Previous cleaning, sanitation, or food manufacturing experience is an asset but not required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Comfortable working in cold, wet, and humid environments.
- Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and production equipment.
- Willingness to work evenings, nights, weekends, or overtime as needed.
Work Environment:
- Food manufacturing facility producing beef jerky and other meat snacks.
- Exposure to refrigerated areas, noise, and cleaning chemicals.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, boots, aprons, hairnets, and safety glasses is required.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the facility meets food safety standards and is ready for safe, efficient production.
Pay: $15.00 per hour
