Since 1996, Little Tykes Early Education Center has been a cornerstone of early childhood education in Lodi, NJ — earning a strong reputation for excellence across all of our programs. We're looking for an experienced Junior Lead Teacher to join our Two's classroom (Pre-K2).
This is not an entry-level position — the ideal candidate already knows this age group, can step into the classroom with confidence, and work as a true partner alongside our senior staff. Mornings are supported by our Director Designee, and you'll report directly to management. This role is designed as a clear pathway to Lead Teacher for the right candidate.
What you'll do
- Support and help execute a developmentally appropriate daily program for the Two's age group
- Work closely with senior staff to maintain consistent routines, transitions, and classroom structure
- Assist with developmental observations and documentation using tablet software
- Build genuine relationships with families — communicating daily updates and supporting the primary family-teacher connection
- Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment in accordance with NJ licensing standards
- Handle daily care routines — including meals, rest time, and toileting support — with patience and consistency
- Participate in staff meetings, state-mandated trainings, and ongoing professional development
What we're looking for
- Required: An active CDA credential or Associate's degree specifically in Early Childhood Education (or actively working toward one)
- Required: 2-3+ years of experience working specifically with toddlers or two-year-olds in a licensed early childhood setting — you know what this age group needs
- Solid understanding of developmentally appropriate practice for this age group
- Familiarity with curriculum methodologies, Tadpoles and/or SmartTeach is a plus
- Strong communication skills with children, families, and colleagues
- A calm, patient, and dependable presence in the classroom
- Must pass required background checks and provide professional references
