Description:
This position involves providing specialized academic instruction to students with autism in a self-contained classroom setting, with a maximum student-to-teacher ratio of 1:6. Additionally, a full-time paraprofessional will support you in meeting the diverse needs of our students.
Requirements:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs and abilities of each student in the classroom.

Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, including but not limited to reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.

Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies and instructional materials appropriate for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters social-emotional growth, communication skills, and independence.

Collaborate with related service providers, such as speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and behavior specialists, to address students' diverse needs.

Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly to ensure continuous growth and development.

Establish and maintain regular communication with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on individualized interventions.

Provide guidance and support to the full-time paraprofessional to facilitate effective classroom management and implementation of instructional activities.

Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.

Valid teaching certification in Special Education.

Proven experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in a special education setting.

Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices and instructional strategies for teaching students with autism.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with individuals with special needs.

Ability to adapt instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

Previous experience supervising or collaborating with paraprofessionals preferred.
