Day Direct Support Professional - Retirement Program

Cottonwood is seeking a compassionate and dependable Retirement DSP I to support individuals with disabilities in our Retirement Enrichment Services program. In this role, you’ll help individuals achieve personal goals, build independence, and stay engaged in meaningful community activities.
This is an entry-level position ideal for someone who is passionate about helping others and interested in learning person-centered support practices.
What You’ll Do
- Support individuals in reaching personal goals and track progress
- Assist with personal care needs (meals, hygiene, health support)
- Provide transportation to community activities and appointments
- Encourage social connections and community participation
- Participate in person-centered support planning
- Respond to medical or behavioral needs as they arise
- Maintain accurate documentation and time records
- Help create a positive, respectful, and engaging environment
- Perform other duties as needed
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 0–2 years of experience preferred (not required)
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Strong communication and basic computer skills
- Ability to support individuals with daily living activities
- Patience, compassion, and a team-oriented mindset
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Active, hands-on role supporting individuals in both indoor and outdoor settings
- Regular movement, including lifting, transferring, and assisting individuals
- Ability to stand for extended periods and respond in emergency situations

What we need from you:
- High school degree or GED
- 18 or older
- Must pass background check and drug screen
- Must have a driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to Cottonwood’s insurance carrier.
- Must be physically able to evacuate individuals in the event of an emergency and be willing and able to intervene in the event of a physical conflict.
Experience in the field is preferred.
