Crow River Sport & Fitness — Delano, MN
Crow River Sport & Fitness is looking for an energetic, knowledgeable coach to join our team. This position will work across both our youth sports performance programs and adult fitness classes, as well as with high school and club sports teams, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable coaching athletes and adults with a wide range of abilities and goals.
This is a hands-on coaching position. We want someone who enjoys being on the floor, connecting with people, teaching movement, and helping athletes and members get better.
What You'll Coach
Depending on experience and availability, responsibilities may include:
- Youth and high school sports performance classes
- Strength & conditioning sessions for high school and club sports teams
- Adult Performance for Life strength and conditioning classes
- Kettlebell classes
- Strength, speed, power, plyometric and movement training
- Helping athletes and members understand proper technique and training intent
- Creating an energetic, positive and professional training environment
Programming and structure are already in place. We're looking for someone who can learn our system, understand the purpose behind the training, and coach it well.
What We're Looking For
Previous competitive sports participation at the high school level or above is required.
We want someone who understands what it feels like to train, compete, be coached and be part of a team.
Candidates should also have:
- A personal training, strength & conditioning, CrossFit, USA Weightlifting, kettlebell or similar fitness/coaching certification
- A solid understanding of strength training and proper movement mechanics
- The ability to confidently lead groups and team training sessions
- Strong communication skills
- A willingness to learn our approach to athlete development
- Reliability and professionalism
- The ability to connect with both teenagers and adults
We're flexible on the specific certification. The right coaching ability, athletic background, personality and willingness to learn are more important to us than a particular credential.
A Great Fit Might Be Someone Who...
Has a background in athletics and loves training but wants to take the next step into coaching.
You might already be a personal trainer, strength coach, former college athlete, sport coach, CrossFit coach, or someone beginning a career in strength and conditioning.
This is a great opportunity for an early-career coach who wants real coaching experience. You'll have the opportunity to coach athletes on a daily basis, lead team strength & conditioning sessions, work with both youth and adult populations, and gain experience with performance testing and athlete development.
You don't need to know everything coming in. We can teach our systems and programming. We're looking for someone who is coachable, curious and genuinely interested in becoming a better coach.
About Crow River Sport & Fitness
We're more than a traditional gym.
Our programs range from adult strength and conditioning to youth and high school sports performance. We also partner with high school and club sports teams to provide structured strength & conditioning programs.
Our athlete development programs emphasize purposeful strength training, speed, power, plyometrics and movement development rather than simply putting athletes through workouts.
We are a USA Weightlifting and USA Powerlifting club and incorporate Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting principles into our training where appropriate.
Our sports performance facility also utilizes VALD performance technology, including:
- ForceDecks force plates
- SmartSpeed timing system
- NordBord hamstring testing
These tools allow us to objectively assess qualities such as speed, strength, power and asymmetries and use that information to help guide athlete development. Coaches will have the opportunity to learn how we use this technology as part of our training and testing process.
Most importantly, we care about good coaching. We want our members and athletes to understand what they're doing, why they're doing it, and how to do it better.
If you enjoy coaching, athletics and helping people improve, we'd like to hear from you.
