The Messenger-Inquirer is seeking a full-time Obituary/News-Records Clerk. The primary duties of the positions include: work with funeral homes that are submitting obituaries for publication; gather and enter public records for publication; handle content from public submissions to press releases.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and the ability to engage with readers and customers. Strong organizational and time-management skills are required, as content deadlines must be met. Candidates must place a strong emphasis on accuracy in their work. Strong editing skills and a working knowledge of the Associated Press stylebook are welcomed. Previous experience and/or an educational background in the journalism field is a plus but not required.
The work schedule is generally 9:30 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, with an occasional weekend shift required. The position includes a full benefits package, including health insurance, vacation time and matching 401(K).
