Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a love for God and His children.
• Lead students in daily worship through prayer, singing, scripture memory, service, and
teaching Biblical truths.
- Integrate a Biblical worldview into all aspects of the day.
- Create a classroom culture that is warm and friendly, full of joy, curiosity, and care.
- Maintain a standard of classroom behavior through clear expectations and procedures to ensure the
safety and preservation of the learning environment.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children in the program through active supervision, maintaining
classroom ratio, and always engaging with students.
- Prepare and implement developmentally appropriate, engaging, and standards-aligned weekly plans,
including whole and small group curriculum, assessments, and supplemental activities.
- Fully utilize our Urban Farm and Forest through creative activities and weekly visits.
- Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the classroom.
- Engage in weekly meetings with the Director and other lead teachers to review the curriculum map,
pacing, calendar, programs, events, and other needs as they arise.
- Administer regular assessments and analyze data to inform teaching and development of individual goals
for students.
- Engage regularly in proactive communication with parents/guardians through drop-off/pick-up, weekly
newsletters, class and individual updates in the class dojo, parent-teacher conferences, and other parent
meetings as needed.
- Assist with the admissions process for Early Childhood students throughout the year through observation,
assessment, and recommendations.
- Actively engage as a school community member by attending events, staff meetings, discipleship, and
other opportunities.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Director of Early Childhood, such as completing report
cards, leading training or discussion groups, facilitating parent workshops, engaging with New Hope
visitors, etc.
- Demonstrate excellence in a co-teaching classroom model.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Professing Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and is committed to Christ-centered
education.
- Bachelor's degree (required) or master’s degree (preferred) in early childhood education, education, or a
related field; Two or more years of relevant teaching experience in a formal school setting.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid, or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development (including social-emotional), emerging literacy and
numeracy, play-based learning, and the Tennessee Early Learning Developmental Standards.
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position, including
the ability to stand, walk, use stairs, bend, kneel, sit on the floor and stand without assistance, traverse
indoor and outdoor school facilities (including the farm and forest) and lead students to safety in the
event of an emergency.
