Roadside Development Herbicide Applicator helps keep Louisiana safe by utilizing throughout the state in the proper application of a variety of chemicals within a wide range of geographic landscapes in assigned parish(es) of Louisiana.
Two years of experience in mobile equipment operations is required.
This is an outdoor, physically active role that may involve varying weather conditions, shift work, night work, overtime, travel, or emergency call-outs depending on assignment.
Position in located in Rapides, District 08/Unit 510 and report to Highway Foreman 1.

Job Duties
Depending on assignment and experience level Roadside Development Herbicide Applicator, may:

Operation of spray truck or other spray equipment using protective clothing, boots, gloves and/or respirators, when necessary, will be the primary and recurring functions of the job.

Attends meetings and training courses relative to herbicide application as directed by the Department.

Maintain highway roadside and vegetation by proper application of herbicides and/or other chemical treatments.

Maintain vegetation at bridge railing, abutments, highway signs, traffic control devices, drainage structures, and drainage channels by application of appropriate herbicides.

Ensures proper herbicides are utilized for each vegetative maintenance area and procedure in accordance with requirements of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and chemical label.

Ensure proper weather conditions, wind conditions, and topographical conditions are tolerable for spraying of selected herbicides.

Operate the required spray equipment and truck to ensure the proper rate of herbicide is being applied in accordance with the label and other special factors.
This role requires reliability, safety awareness, and the ability to adapt to changing work conditions.
Position-Specific Details:
Compensation: Roadside Development Herbicide Applicator - 46,842.00 Annually
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency-wide permanent status employees); or by detail to special duty.
