Reporting NJFPL’s Communications & Development team is seeking a new Coordinator to help advance the League’s mission. In this role, the Communications and Development Coordinator will execute essential development and fundraising activities (40%) such as donor database management, grant support, and stewardship, while also driving impactful marketing and communications strategies (60%) across digital and print platforms to engage stakeholders, elevate brand visibility, and advocate for sexual and reproductive freedom. This role is ideal for an organized and detail-oriented self-starter who is passionate about sexual and reproductive healthcare and wants to have an impact.
Responsibilities and duties
Communications (60%)
- Content Creation: Develop engaging, mission-aligned content for NJFPL’s website, email newsletters, and social media channels (primarily Instagram, Facebook, X and LinkedIn).
- Brand Management: Maintain consistent messaging, brand voice, and visual identity across all platforms and materials.
- Marketing Materials: Assist with designing, writing, and overseeing the production of outreach materials, presentations, and educational resources.
- Media & Outreach: Assist in managing media relations, writing press releases, and coordinating public awareness campaigns.
- Reporting: Track and analyze communications metrics to measure effectiveness and inform future strategy.
Development (40%)
- Database Management: Maintain and update NJFPL’s donor database with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accurate records of gifts, pledges, and donor communications.
- Donor Stewardship: Execute the donor acknowledgments, including generating and sending timely, personalized thank-you letters, tax receipts, and other donor correspondence to ensure a positive donor experience.
- Grant Support: Conduct grant opportunity research, and assist with proposal submission and reporting, including collecting supporting documents and managing deadlines.
- Fundraising Events: Support the planning and execution of small fundraising events, including logistics, communications, and vendor coordination.
- Appeals: Assist the Communications & Development Director in executing annual giving campaigns and donor appeals (both digital and mail).

Work Schedule and Time Commitment
- Flexible Schedule – The League maintains a flexible schedule. Employees must work a minimum of seven (7) hours per day with a thirty (30) minute lunch period. Employees must begin the workday between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. All employees are expected to be available between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- Hybrid Schedule - The League maintains a hybrid work environment. Employees must work in the League office a minimum of 3 days a week and may work in a remote capacity the remaining 2 days per week. Employees may elect to work in the office up to 5 days a week.
- Flexible hours and schedule must be coordinated with your supervisor and are subject to change based on business needs.
- No travel required.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or public relations.
- Experience: 1-3 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, development, or a related field, preferably within a nonprofit or agency setting.
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Technical: Proficiency with digital communication tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Canva, etc.), social media platforms, and donor management CRM (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Bloomerang, or similar platforms)
- A strong commitment to NJFPL’s mission, sexual and reproductive healthcare access and equity.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and thrive as a self-starter in a small team environment.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
