Position Summary
The CNC Machinist is responsible for programming, set up, daily care and operation of the machine shop - including two CNC lathe machines and a mill machine. Requires experience and skill level to program and set up CNC lathe/mill and be able to run parts in a variety of materials and verify their dimensional measurements. The ideal candidate has set up and programming experience and an ability to work independently on multiple machines.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Program, set up and operate FANUC Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines to machine stainless and mild steel parts
- Work predominantly with CNC Lathes, but also support Mill machine
- Be comfortable working on multiple machines at the same time to maximize machine and operator time
- Machine and finish complex parts to high standards of close dimensional tolerances and finishes
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machines such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth of cut and angle to obtain efficient production performance
- Read & interpret engineering drawings (2D/3D); Verify and inspect work to meet prints
- Perform established routine machine maintenance including oiling/cleaning machines, dies or work pieces
- Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions and adjusting machines as necessary; Maintain calibration logs
- Record job activities, including counts, utilizing labor reporting system
- Communicate with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions & coordinate work
Experience and Education
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED
- Five (5) years or more related work & training experience as a machinist working on CNC lathes machines
- Have the ability to edit lathe programs
- Experience setting up and running CNC Mills
- Has necessary aptitude to 1) machine and design complex parts and fixtures from drawings and 2) develop special tools or adapt standard tools to meet product needs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.50 - $35.00 per hour
