We're a growing construction company in St. Charles County looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team. This position reports directly to the Controller and plays a key role in supporting the company's financial operations. You'll be responsible for a variety of accounting functions, month-end close activities, and helping maintain accurate financial records while contributing to process improvements.
What You'll Do
- Prepare monthly customer billings and review job costs
- Process and manage accounts receivable
- Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
- Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger
- Process intercompany transactions
- Support payroll processing
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Provide support during annual audits
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies
- Collaborate with operations and management to ensure accurate financial reporting
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of accounting experience (preferred)
- Experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Payroll experience is a plus
- Construction accounting experience is preferred but not required
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions is a plus
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent multitasking, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
