Polly's Pancake Parlor is looking to hire skilled, reliable, and dedicated service-oriented front of house staff to crosstrain into a full-time or part-time, year round position(s)! Serving at Polly's is unique in that the servers make the custom pancake orders themselves, coordinating with the kitchen to time the order out accurately, delisciously, and efficiently.
Polly's is a family restaurant that's been in business since 1938 serving a traditional American breakfast and lunch to the north country and its visitors in award-winning fashion! Polly's uses real maple products and includes them with no upcharge.
The Cross-training can be flexible on which positions. All front of house positions are available and would be helpful, but ultimately we are trying to bring on a well-rounded, year round server with some flexibility to work other positions as needed.
Reliable transportation and availability between 6:30 AM and 4:00 PM are required.
Job duties:
Server shifts at Polly's span both breakfast and lunch and can be required to be up to 8 hours of tip time.
Take orders, make suggestions, tend to needs of customers with excellent service and attentiveness.
Make pancakes and waffles with various homemade batters and custom add-ins (blueberries, walnuts, chocolate chips etc.) Requires wearing a pager
Amass a wealth of knowledge regarding Polly's menu offerings, History, Point of sales, and surrounding area attractions
Familiarize yourself with food safety standards, maintain a clean and healthy presence
Be prepared to accommodate various allergy needs
Learn about the step by step process of how Polly's utilizes organic grains to create our homemade batter recipes.
Be Enthusiastic, resilient, and prepared to learn a fast paced, busy, customized service. Serving at Polly's contains a performative aspect in the creation of the pancakes, it adds an extra layer of challenge and gives less down time in the middle of a shift. Customers recognize the extra effort as your pancake grill is in open view of the dining room.
Side work duties at the end and beginning of shifts to properly maintain and close the restaurant for the next day.
Tip sharing policy for support staff: bussers, bar-staff suggested 15-20% of overall tips split between 2-4 coworkers

Separate and higher Sidework hourly wage ($11/hr) to the tip-time hourly wage ($6/hr)
Same day pay of all credit card tips in cash
Polly's has cashiers. Servers hand the customers the checks to take to the front to complete payment. You do not keep a bank or handle money other than cash tips received.
Average hourly tipped earnings run between $20-$50/hr on busy days.
