Job Description Summary
The Delivery Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently delivering compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from our plant location using a company provided straight or box truck. The Delivery Driver loads, unloads, delivers, and returns compressed gas cylinders while frequently interacting with customers.
- Safely loads, delivers and unloads cylinders containing compressed gases to customer locations. Delivers compressed gas cylinders to external and internal customer sites. Records deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest and obtains signatures from customers for receipt purposes. Collects empty cylinders. Returns empty cylinders to the plant location for refilling.
- Establishes and maintains good customer relations
- Provides timely communication back to manager regarding any changes or issues experienced by the customer.
- Maintains load manifests and all required vehicle documents by ensuring they are properly completed and reconciled with truck counts and shipping documents before and after deliveries. Ensures that vehicle manifests, vehicle placards, cylinder labeling and strapping at all times comply with all government regulations including, but not limited to, those issued by the Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- Performs pre and post trip vehicle inspections documenting deficiencies; ensures all safety items are in good working order.
- Works in warehouse or on shipping/receiving dock as needed.
Requirements
- Valid Class A or B Driver's License / Hazmat Endorsement
- Must have one (1) year of prior Class A professional driving experience within the last five (5) years.
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 21 years or older.
- All day-to-day tasks and requirements can be hands-on learning and training. Experience operating a forklift, handheld electronic devices and on-board computer system for DOT compliance would be nice but not necessary. We will train.
Driver Criteria:
- Age of drivers - 23 to 72
- No CDL driver with less than 2 years experience
- When submitting mid-term MVR's, provide the original CDL issue date or prior experience
- All drivers are required to have a US issued driver's license
- CDL Physicals must be up to date
MVR Criteria:
- No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
- No more than 1 accident and 1 moving violation in the last 3 years
- Mobile phone violations shall be considered as a moving violation
- No alcohol or drug related violations in the last 5 years, any such violation appearing on the MVR beyond 5 years is a carrier referral. If the reinstatement of such violation occurred within the last 3 years, the driver shall be deemed ineligible.
- No MAJOR violations including the following in the last 3 years:
Reckless driving
Speeding at more than 25 miles per hour over the speed limit
Any conviction for driving with suspended/revoked driver's license
Leaving the scene of an accident (hit and run)
Using a motor vehicle for the commission of a felony
Negligent, homicide, manslaughter or assault arising out of operation of a motor vehicle
