Occupational Therapist (OT) – Contract Position
Compensation: Per patient (not hourly)
Schedule: Flexible, self-managed (including weekends)
Location: Primarily Whittier area
Patient Volume: Self-selected caseload
We are seeking a motivated and independent Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our growing team. This is a contract-based opportunity offering a flexible, self-directed schedule—ideal for new graduates or clinicians looking to build autonomy and expand their practice.
Position Overview
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing individualized treatment programs that help patients achieve maximum independence in activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), functional mobility, upper extremity function, cognition, and overall participation in meaningful daily activities. The OT works under physician orders and is accountable for delivering high-quality care in accordance with established standards and the California Occupational Therapy Practice Act.
The OT will promote functional independence, maximize safety, prevent disability, and support patients and caregivers in achieving optimal outcomes following injury, illness, surgery, neurological conditions, developmental disabilities, or other physical or cognitive impairments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations
- Develop individualized plans of care based on patient goals and functional needs
- Implement and modify therapeutic interventions according to patient progress
- Address ADLs, IADLs, upper extremity rehabilitation, fine motor skills, cognition, visual-perceptual skills, balance, coordination, and functional mobility as appropriate
- Recommend, train, and educate patients in adaptive equipment, assistive devices, splinting, positioning, and environmental modifications
- Educate patients, caregivers, and family members on treatment plans, home programs, and safety strategies
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members
- Ensure compliance with all clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in the State of California
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

- Capable of performing tasks requiring physical activity, including assisting patients with transfers, positioning, and therapeutic activities as needed
