ANDRITZ Metals USA Inc, a leading designer and manufacturer of quality metal strip processing equipment, is seeking a Machinist, with Large Manual Horizontal Boring Mill experience. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience. This is a second shift position at the Callery, PA shop.
Under the direction of the Working Shop Supervisor , the Horizontal Boring Mill Operator is responsible for set up and operation of the 6” Horizontal Boring Mill Machine.
Requirements
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Key Result Items
- Receives drawings and instructions, Tapes, manuscripts, etc.
- Threads tape into tape reader and checks print drawing and manuscripts for reference point.
- Loads material into the machine with a crane positions & clamp.
- Aligns workpiece and spindle manually.
- Sets read-out dials to position, insert tool, and activates cycle button.
- Changes tooling.
- Using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.
- Checks first piece against drawing for accuracy of tape and further succeeding pieces as required.
- Operates machine select proper speed and setup.
- Unloads finished pieces.
- Reports any errors, defective material, or faulty equipment.
- Performs minor repairs and assist in major repairs when required.
- Grinds/ tools if required.
- Lubricates equipment and maintain a clean and orderly area.

Job Specific Competencies
- Ability to use 3 axis, auxiliary equipment, micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges and misc. hand tools.
- Judgement to plan and perform set up of the equipment.
Education and Experience
- Highschool diploma or equivalent.
- 5+ years’ experience.
