Responsibilities
- Prepare and sterilize endoscopic equipment and accessories in accordance with aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and infection control.
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by handling instruments, managing equipment, and ensuring optimal visualization through medical imaging technology.
- Monitor patient vital signs and comfort levels throughout procedures, providing support as needed to facilitate smooth operations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, including technical notes, equipment logs, and patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Conduct routine inspections of endoscopy tools and devices, troubleshooting technical issues promptly to minimize procedure delays.
- Support the setup and breakdown of procedure rooms, ensuring all supplies are stocked and equipment is properly stored after use.
- Stay current with advancements in gastroenterology practices, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology to enhance procedural efficiency and safety.
Requirements
- Proven experience or training in gastroenterology or related medical fields; certification as an Endoscopy Technician is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy relevant to gastrointestinal procedures and physiology principles.
- Familiarity with medical terminology used in diagnostic evaluation and endoscopic procedures.
- Demonstrated proficiency in aseptic technique to prevent infection risks during invasive procedures.
- Ability to operate medical imaging equipment effectively for real-time visualization during endoscopies.
- Excellent technical proficiency with endoscopy systems, including troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
