Essex, Union and Morris Counties in New Jersey. We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Baseball and Softball Umpire for High School games. You will work behind the plate and on the bases. This role is essential in ensuring fair play and adherence to the rules of baseball and softball during games. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for sports, and the ability to manage conflicts effectively. Duties
- Officiate high school Baseball and/or Softball games, ensuring that all rules and regulations are followed.
- Complete classroom and on field instruction and pass State Testing.
- Make accurate calls on plays, including balls, strikes, safe, and out decisions.
- Communicate clearly with players, coaches, and spectators regarding calls made during the game.
- Manage conflicts on the field in a calm and professional manner.
- Provide guidance to players on the rules of the game when necessary.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of baseball rules and updates to ensure fair play.
- Collaborate with other umpires to ensure consistency in officiating throughout the season.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with players, coaches, and spectators.
- Experience in sports coaching or officiating is preferred.
- Ability to manage conflicts effectively and maintain composure under pressure.
- Previous experience working with children in a sports environment is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Baseball and Softball rules and regulations is a positive.
- A passion for sports and commitment to promoting fair play.
