We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to own the Company’s end-to-end payroll function.
The Payroll Administrator will partner closely with Human Resources, Finance, and Accounting to ensure payroll is accurate, timely, compliant, and efficient. The ideal candidate is a hands-on payroll professional who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and using technology to streamline payroll operations and enhance the employee experience.
- Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees across multiple states.
- Review and validate payroll data, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, timekeeping, leave, deductions, and benefits.
- Manage payroll records, taxes, garnishments, and other statutory deductions.
- Process off-cycle payrolls, adjustments, and corrections as needed.
- Prepare payroll journal entries, supporting schedules, and monthly account reconciliations.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end payroll close activities.
- Manage annual payroll reporting, including W-2s and payroll tax reconciliations.
- Partner with third-party providers supporting payroll, 401(k), expense reimbursement, and equity programs.
- Process employee expense reimbursements and maintain Travel & Expense system access and records.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing payroll documentation and responding to requests.
- Partner with HR and Finance to ensure employee changes, compensation, bonuses, and other payments are accurately reflected in payroll.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, automation, and system capabilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, HR, or a related field preferred.
- 4+ years of progressive payroll experience with full-cycle payroll ownership.
- Experience independently processing multi-state payroll.
- Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with payroll journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Experience with payroll/HRIS systems such as UKG (preferred), ADP, Workday, Paylocity, or similar.
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite (preferred), Oracle, SAP, or similar.
- Payroll audit experience preferred.
